It is with great regret that I inform the Ford Truck community that my old girl is gone. She burned down early Saturday morning around 2am while we were asleep. Apparently an electrical short had caused her to catch fire completely destroying the cab and front end. Luckily it didn't spread to the house but it did manage to melt the siding off. Sigh....I don't even know what to say
So sad.
Did you have the speed control brake switch recall done on this truck?
Good thing the house didn't catch on fire.
Do you have comp insurance or are you self insured?
Yes, it had been done in the past by a prior owner. I only have basic liability insurance which should cover some, if not most, of the damage to the house. The truck on the other hand is a complete loss.
I wonder where the fire started then. I do remember the first round of recall harnesses were made wrong so Ford had to do another round. Makes you wonder if that was the case.
In any case I am glad there were no injuries or losing the house too.

I would speculate that there probably is way more damage than you might suspect.
Heat on the frame and suspension are two things that I would be concerned with.
Could be the case of good money chasing bad.
If you did it to sell it, you would probably go negative with the ROI
was thinkin the same thing on first glance........but, will it ever be the same? (sentimentally)
i might just do that to sell it though. not worth much now, but fixed properly it would be worth a good bit.
OP: looks like the long block may be in-tact.
You're right, I don't think it would be the same. Plus it would take A LOT of time and money to get it back to where it was. It was also a California truck so it had the mass air system which would be hard to find. At this point I just want to get rid of it so I can stop looking at it and smelling it. I'm sure the block and heads are still good. Everything else is toast.
