Service DVD Code

Has anyone figured out how to hack the '05-'06 Ford Service DVD so you don't need to reset your computer to the year 2006? Surely some computer genius has done this.

So you do not need to reset your computer to the year of the DVD?
I would think there would be some way to download the whole DVD and find the code that causes the need to set the date. I assume the idea was to prevent the use of older information at dealerships.

it is to prevent a"tech" from selling the old DVD's when the new ones come out.

That makes sense in one respect. But I have one maybe from a tech that works as long as I set my computer to the year 2005 or 2006. I guess a small inconvenience for all that info.

It's not difficult at all to eliminate that inconvenience. Assuming you already have the DVD installed and you know its drive letter...

1) Google "runasdate" and download the version appropriate for your version of windows. Put it in a directory where you know how to find it. Being a creature of habit with poor memory, I use a directory named "runasdate32".

2) Know your DVD's expiration date. If it's dated as "month year", use the 1st of that month in step 4.

3) Locate the desktop icon for the service DVD package that was placed there during installation. Right click the icon and select properties.

4) Edit the command line from its simple form to something that looks like the following: " C:\runasdate32\RunAsDate***** 07\07\2007 C:\TSO\tsobrowser*****" where the first part the command that sets up the date to be submitted to the application as the "current date", the second is the date to be used in the format of dd/mm/yyyy, and the third part is the path and executable for the actual program that runs the service DVD data. <Edit: Bleeping filter! Replace the 5 asterisks above with ". e x e" (no spaces).>

For more tips that have been discussed, do a forum search for "runasdate".

Have fun!

...and still, there's always a supply of them on the 'bay.

It took me some time and a look at some of the "runasdate" posts, but I got it working. Awesome. Thanks so much for this great information.
