I have a 97 Ford F-250 heavy duty 351. I bought it about a year and a half ago. It had heat but not alot. After about a month, the heater kicked out lukewarm air. Since then, that is all we've been able to get from the heater. We can park on an incline and get heat but that's the only time. I had a mechanic look at it. He changed the thermostat, heater core and did a pressure test. Nothing. He rechecked hoses, pressure tests still nothing. He found a small leak (barely detectable) in the double hose under the truck but that didn't help. He re ran the pressure test after changing the hose and everything checked out fine. Still no heat. I had 2 other mechanics look at it. They ran tests and even checked the vacuum doors that let the heat in. Everything works and there is plenty of heat through the heater hoses but nothing comes into the cab of the truck. There is no air in the lines. That has been checked and rechecked. I need some suggestions desperately!! Thanks
I don't know if this will help your situation but I stumbled upon it when I was having trouble with a heat situation, after changing the same parts as yourself I found it to be the rad cap since it works on pressure.
If both hoses are hot then you might have a door actuator working but not the door..Its got to be something like that. Its not a rocket science...Of course there has to be flow through the hoses. not just hot hoses. Can you pull the blower motor and look inside to see whats going on. Put your hand on the heater core in there it should be hot..
