I was wondering if the oil pressure gauge would work properly with a different sender. Or is it the gauge that will not read pressure?

Your oil pressure gage reads "normal" over a wide range of actual pressure

AND, I'll also add that 15W-40 synthetic and 5W-40 synthetic are both 40 weight oils

Has anybody tried an oil pressure sender off of a vehicle that the gauge actually moves with the oil pressure?

The oil pressure sensor for the gauge in the dash is only going to read the LPOP not the injector pressure.

The LPOP pressure question I was asking , is it the sender or is it the gauge that will not read the pressure as it changes? Every other Ford truck that I have owned has a functioning oil pressure gauge.

I wish I could answer that question but my guess would be the sender. Can I ask why you would want to know the pressure? I'm curious

If I remember right, it was in 1987 that all Ford trucks oil gauge from the factory uses a pressure switch that is only an indicator of pressure above 7psi., not an actual pressure sensor like the older trucks.
There is a mod to use a sensor but I think you also need to modify the cluster on trucks in the 90's.
03-07 Superduties I'm not sure if it has been done or not. Really I don't see the importance because if there is no oil being pumped up to the reservoir for the HPOP it won't run anyways.

You can add on a pressure sensor and gauge. There is a specific test port for it, or you can mess with adapters to install it where the switch is.

Thank you for the info. I am going to add a separate mechanical gauge off my bypass oil filter head.

Here is a link to the background of the "idiot Gauge". Fairly entertaining and good info but unfortunately doesn't answer your exact question. I looked around the site a few years ago and didn't find an answer but it would be a good jumping off place if you want to research a bit.
