2016 XLT, basic Sync, nothing fancy. Had an ipod in truck since week I bought it--running it through USB plug (not bluetooth). Worked like a charm. Son borrowed truck, ran iphone through system, when I got it back, refused to play ipod. Recognizes it, indexes it, pulls up the song and info, just won't play it. So, I swapped ipods, worked great until son borrowed truck again (moving) and same thing! So now I have 2 ipods that won't play through USB. I tried my ipad and it works great. I didn't realize what had happened until they borrowed the truck the 2nd time. I've tried everything I know to reset it. Even took both battery cables off for about 3 hours.....pulled fuses (obviously not the right ones), done the usb reset, master reset......dealer is clueless and really doesn't want to take time to fool with it..... Purchased truck new in November 16, so everything is still under warranty! What do I do????
Can you access the broken Ipod's on your PC ? I find it disturbing that an Iphone can disrupt your Ipods. These devices are really compatitble. I'm guessing that directory structure in the Ipod got scrambled. It just may need a reformat and then re-download your music.

I'll give that a try, but they both seem to work fine independently and on other vehicles. I don't think it's the ipods, I think it's the truck......

OK - If you get one of your Ipods running again, I would forbid your children from using their Iphones In your truck.
Since I'm a ANDROID GUY, I have never seen this problem before. However I have never attached my Android phone to any car/truck. Since I'm older than dirt, and I feel they were meant to be Driven - not connected to a cellular phone !
I don't think it's an iPhone (or iPod) issue. Mine will work with my home system and my other car, the only time it has issues is in the truck after a 2nd apple device was used. I also get the same issue if I use my iPhone through the USB if Bluetooth is running. It's as if Microsoft will tolerate one i device but if you try a 2nd that's it you're banned from Sync
There's supposed to be a bug fix in version 2.2 that might fix the problem. My Sync is at 2.0 & won't update to 2.2. The older versions of Sync seem to be updating now. Do you know what version of Sync you are running?
Thanks for the suggestions! None of them have worked, so far! I've deleted his phone a week or so ago, no change. I'm running Sync 5.1, and over on the Apple site, that version seems to cause some problems. Now, I'm trying to figure out how to wipe all the memory out of Sync......any ideas? XR7GT390 seems to have experienced the same problem......can't figure it out.
Yeah, I'm not really an Apple person. I love the ipods in my cars and trucks and mowing, and the ipad was a necessity when I was running a business. Now, they're just toys.....but, dang it! I want my toys to work!
Again, the dealer is useless. Duh, no, never heard of that, reset it, that'll fix it......
GOT IT! This has been driving me CRAZY! I've searched every related thread on the planet and the one that suggested that I reset my ipods was the one that worked! I reset both iPods and they work as before! Hallelujah!
Thanks for suggestions, opinions (I think) and thoughts!
So could you explain your logic for suggesting not to use anything by Apple in our trucks other than "your" obvious dislike of Apple products.
Are you saying that Android and it`s car interface is perfect?
I`m sure there are many more F150 owners that have not had any problems and are quite happy using an Apple iOS product in their vehicle.
Have a great day.
You are free to use whatever you like. I was just making a whimsical joke/comment about MY dislike for Apple. They are a brilliant marketing company apparently.
