My old Land Rover has one too - 1973 Series III. I guess the Ford drain plug has a rubber seal integrated into it. My son's Fusion is like that, as I recall.
Good to get this info on oil specs and filter part number. I plan to do an oil change at 1000 miles and want to be ready.

the ford drain plug uses an O-ring seated into the factory drain plug.
I recommend installing a quick drain valve and never have to work with a wrench (other than the oil filter wrench) again.
