Radiator support rubber mounts
Just finished replacing the rubber mounts under the radiator support on the '66 F100. They were in bad shape and so was the frame were they sat. Had to weld in new pieces of steel and go from there. The point of this post is that I was able to make the rubber parts out of an old tire carcass. Used a two inch hole saw and then drilled out for the bolt. Ended up using a couple of layers of tire on the top side and one on the bottom. Then I used washers to shim up the support to give an even gap in the front of the door. I know this sounds a little down home for some folks here but it really seems to be working fine. I drew them down fairly tight to try to keep them from walking sideways as there really isn't any special piece in the actual 1/8" of the frame other than the tire where it has been tightened together.
Seems like I read on here someplace that the '65 shop manual says to use old tire carcass. Well, anyway, that is where I got the idea. If they wear out I still have the old tire behind the barn and can make some more!

i just bought the rubber mounts for the core support from Tom's Bronco parts , they have the correct size " frame saver " washers that weld in place of the rusted out area and properly repair the frame for all the body mount areas as well .
