Stay safe with all the fires, some are up the hill from here and one by my grandparents place in Coarsegold-
My son is a firefighter for Cal Fire and last night he told us they were getting dispatches to Coarsegold, but I couldn't find any info about it on the Cal Fire website.
My wife and family are heading out to a campground near Coarsegold and Oak Hurst because for the first time in over 30 years we couldn't get a site in Lower Pines in the Yosemite Valley, so I'm a tad concerned their vacation might be affected.
Do you have any info on the fire? Where it is exactly or how big, perchance?

Stewart,
Try www.geomac.gov and go to the viewer and zoom in on the fire. It looks like Oak Hurst and points south are good.

I know it certainly does look like, especially when looking at this map I referenced from the Cal Fire webpage, CAL FIRE - California Statewide Fire Map , but because of the info my son gave me and the info posted above by Malt, I was hoping he had some info I couldn't find online.
good morning from from the lost coast. hope all is well across the miles. rosie will be headed to san diego this afternoon and i'll be headed to work for a 24hr shift with the dog (she'll be camping in the cab). no big plans for the weekend. maybe finishing up the bottle cap installation on the cornhole boards.
and online window shopping.

Today's excitement in the neighborhood is the anti-pot crew going in and out of the canyon with guys hanging from helicopters. Glad I'm not the guy hanging from the cable as they descend...

Sounds like fun......
Headed to Fairfax and seeing plenty of "California Pink Grass" along the way.
Happy Sunday Nor Cal. Hope everyone has a blessed day.
Looking at the 10 day forecast (which is really 15 days, go figure) and it looks like Monday and Tuesday will be the only days under 100 for the next two weeks.
Eeesh. We're getting a bit different forecast out here. This morning they're telling us that we're at the beginning of a cooling trend with no real heat until next weekend.
We came home from shopping yesterday afternoon, and were blocked because of a fire started from a transformer explosion. Problem was, the transformer was a couple hundred feet from our driveway. Yikes! Took this picture from Montebello Ridge parking lot a couple miles away. This was taken right after a couple of tankers had hit it, and it already seemed like they were getting a handle on it. Luckily, only a few acres were burned, and the fire was kept away from our home.
