Question What do you think about this?

Bought this adapter to change over to a dual MS.

No instructions but I assume they want me to use a combo of these spacers they gave me to place the tie rod end thing on the outside of the brake pedal mounting location. I'm not going to do that. Seems like a bad idea. Anyway, here it is currently. I don't want to have to cut/weld the bracket to align the pedal and MS, but I will if it's safer than what's currently happening. There is no binding, and it works fine as far as I can tell. However, it's also under no pressure from the braking system.

Can I get away with this?

If you mean installing that setup with the push rod at an angle like that then no, I would not do it, rod should be a straight shot into the master. Rod is also too long for me as well, too flimsy to be used like that IMO. The rod could easily bend in a panic stop from either one of those problems.
I would mount the eyelet to the outside of the pedal and weld a tab around it so that the pin would be supported on both sides as it is now.
I would also weld a piece of heavy tubing around that thin rod to stiffen it up leaving only the short ends exposed for adjustment.

Yeah, I expected that answer. I don't like the length either, but I'm not sure what else I can do about that. If it's a straight shot into the MC, I'm not sure I could bend that piece of steel though!

I feel like a tab on the pedal mount wouldn't be as sturdy as using the original location(one solid cast part). I will probably just modify the bracket(cut and narrow) so that I relocate the MS relative to the pedal.

I don't see how you can make that any better, unless you can find a MC with mounting holes on the vertical centerline, and tubing ports on the outside face. The right thing to do would be to use a longer pedal pivot shaft so the stock lever is further out.

I wonder what the ratings on that rod end are? What if you replaced it with a clevis end, with one leg outside and one leg inside the lever? Would that line up about right?

There is always some angle on the pushrod, due to the arc the lever end moves thru, but that's in the vertical plane. This adds an angle in the horizontal, admittedly not a huge angle.

Some of my GM brake pedals have nothing but a stub sticking out of the side of the pedal for a rod end to slip over and a simple clip to keep the rod end from sliding off. As long as the rod is a straight shot all force is taken by the pin, so I think welding another piece to surround your rod end should be more than strong enough. Just an option that may be easier than modifying the bracket.

I bought the same exact bracket over a year ago and have yet to install it for the same exact delima.
What and the heck is the point of replacing something that is "unsafe" with something that is compromised and possibly unsafe?

I'm still not sure what to do...
