What should I do?

so on june 2cnd my dealer "placed" my order for my truck. He told me build date would be June 26th. No one has called me with a VIN or anything and it's after the build date. I even called him to ask if he knows about the 2 week shutdown in July and he said " no idk why they would do that "

i havent called since a week and a half ago and he claimed he would call me when info comes in.

Should i I call him again incase he forgot? Or what. I'm kinda irritated they aren't pursuing me because I'm laying down some bank roll for this truck.

On a a side note a dealer in Florida has the same truck I want but even more options maybe a little more price but I am unsure of its build date. I don't wanna be an *** and go buy something else but I'm kinda annoyed.

What should i do? Call them? Say **** it and go to another dealer? What?

I had to pester my salesman some. Three weeks after my June 5th order date I e-mailed a second time to ask for the order number or VIN. This time I had looked up their Ford dealer code and told him the code and wrote that if he could just give me their order number for my truck I could follow it in COTUS and not pester him....
He got right back to me with both the order number and the VIN.

When I ordered mine I wrote a check for $1K as a deposit, which they've cashed, so couldn't really just tell them to forget it like you're considering. I would give them an ultimatum: "give me information or cancel the deal!"

I'd definitely call and find out what is going on. As far as getting the other truck in Florida, it is up to you, but if you really want that other truck you could have it now. Only thing is, you'd probably lose a deposit since they'll be stuck having to sell your truck once it comes in.

You may be able to get the VIN from the dealer's website. You can then go to Ford's ETIS website, select the Vehicle tab, drop in the VIN, and get the build date.

If you haven't already, get the order number and the dealer number and I'm pretty sure you can track progress yourself on COTUS. I have the process for tracking from plant to dealer saved somewhere on my computer as well for CSX...let me know if you want it.

CC- I just wanna say Congrats on your truck order, finally! You've been contemplating and flipping this around for a long time. So call your dealer, have some (more) patience that you've already shown here, and things will work out. Remember, your truck order process is rolling along, with or without a VIN# or tracking.

Cheers mate, can't wait to see your drive-home pics!

Thanks top-speed I am
excited too! Lol.

Yeah ah guys I haven't even put down a deposit. I just don't wanna feel like a jerk being so demanding but dang. It's like they only care when I am talking money.

Is it typically this hard to get a VIN from the dealership or have them call. Or is this pretty common?

Tell them, if they can't give you some more info you are going to go get the other truck, that may light a fire under your salesman.

When I start referring to somethinfg im looking at as "mine," I have to smile to myself because i realize that the marketing team has done their job. Your sales rep should be doing everything in their power to make you think of that truck as "yours." with that in mind, I can't understand the foot-dragging - unless, for some reason, they don't have the vin, and are hoping to keep you on the hook...

Chris I don't really see any reason to be putting ultimatums on the salesmen and turn the situation into a hostile or uncomfortable relationship. I would recommend just explaining that based on normal customer special orders the VIN should be available to the customer within 3 to 7 days. And ask them to please provide it to you.... with a smile. If the sales person blows you off, ask to speak to the sales manager. My approach to this sort of situation is, everyone works for someone... And I would not leave the dealership without the answers I went there for.
If you exhaust all avenues with the dealership I would feel no guilt in walking away from the deal and buying elsewhere .

Ford did have a shutdown for the plant, so really nothing they can do. No one they can call. Its the patience part of ordering I spoke of. I hate giving such promises as build times, because there is no way to control what happens outside your zone of control. That being said, if you want to get the one in FL, you could do it not and the local shop should be able to cancel the order. If there is no VIN they won't be stuck with the truck as the order hasn't been picked up. Also, know that Florida has some of the highest doc fees in the country, and that warranties purchased there are all sold at the same price, so that every customer gets hosed rather than just ones who don't pay attention. But again, I don't see anything out of the ordinary with the dealer your working with. All we can really do is wait. We can't call Ford about every customer and pretend everyone is super special.

x2... what he said

You can also mention that you know 2017 orders will be closing soon and you simply want to insure your order is in the system.

We feel ur pain

I was not aware of any shutdown except the 2 weeks from 30 June to 16 July. What shutdown are you referring to? Plus Chris order went in on 2 June and should have been picked no later than the 8th.

I mean I never got a confirmation number. No emails on any info at all. I mean If it takes till August to build and then September would I be better off getting an 18?

i have absolutely no info only my salesmans "word" if he put in the order or not. Which he called june2cnd on Tuesday to make sure I wanted to place the order and I told him yes. I just don't want to be forgot about- I mean in their eyes it's not a big deal. In mine even a courtesy call to let me know they haven't forgot would be nice.

Id hate to wait 3 months for a truck to be built.

I wish there was was a way to pull up a dealership and see their order list and then I'd be able to see mine.... or is there a way to do this?
