When I ordered my truck, I walked out with a copy of my order. I can't imagine ordering a 60+ thousand dollar truck and walking out the door without a piece of paper at least.
You can pull your vin number yourself if you get the DORA, or the order comfirmation you should have walked out of the dealership with when you ordered.
Yes, it can be emailed. I get mine emailed usually within 72 hours of my order being placed. It shows your pricing, options, cost of each item, Order #, Dealer # etc.
It stands for Dealer Order Receipt Acceptance. Ford sends a DORA for each order the dealer places as an acknowledgment of the order. If they don't have one, they never placed the order.
Here is a copy of my 15.. the order info is at the top which I cut off for privacy but you can see exactly what your build is and pricing.

okay I'll give them a call tomorrow and ask for it. If they play stupid, should I tell them to cancel the order and hang up?
I don't feel comfortable saying what you should or shouldn't do in regards to walking away. It is a very large purchase and it is your money ( I don't know what you are paying nor what the next dealer would do for you). I for one would not accept someone not getting back to me within 24 hours. There is no reason to ignore a customer UNLESS it is a day off or they are going on vacation.
IF they are close by, I wouldn't even call. I'd personally go there and speak with them. If he isn't there, get the manager. You just want basic information, not like you want to hound them every day. I question whether they have allocation for you this month if you haven't heard anything. That's why I'd want the DORA so you can research further.
I bought a truck I was not remotely looking to buy because I happened on to the lot to get some warranty work done. Personally I'd drive and pick one up rather than hang in limbo waiting for someone who may or may not do their job.
I was not aware of any shutdown except the 2 weeks from 30 June to 16 July
Sorry that's correct. My mind was working in an order date perspective... orders picked up now are after the shutdown...... It affects Chris the same though. His order is just sitting in the bank waiting to get picked up, and it won't happen for a little while.
A DORA is generated instantly when the order is placed. It does NOT include the agreed upon price. Depending on how they have it printed, it can either just show MSRP, or else it can show the invoice price as well. My personal practice is to print the DORA with the invoice price, hand write our agreed upon price and current rebates and have the customer sign it as our agreed upon figures. This shows what I'll sell the truck for and what rebates are. I have a guy coming in today for his order, and the rebates went up about a grand. Since he has an agreed upon price from me separate from the rebates he'll get to see the improvement rather than having the dealer keep the rebates for profit. It's why I suggest negotiating on the offset of invoice and leaving rebates out of it. They are what they are. There may be several structures to decide on, but the only number that's negotiable is how much over or under invoice you're going to spend. But all that rubbish is just how I do it and I feel it's pretty upfront. If someone does it different, it doesn't mean they're trying to rip you off, they just do it different. Be aware of what changes though!
Anticipation is hard to deal with some times. I think some people make too much of a deal when thing don't go exactly as expected. There are an awfully lot of things going on with new orders and a lot of coordination and timing factors included. This is where the old saying, "patients is a real virtue." At this point you really only have two (2) choices. Stick it out or cancel. Unfortunately there isn't much one can do to speed things up. You know what's going to happen if you cancel the order? NOTHING! Patience Grasshopper, patience.
What the ****! I was never sent a email by the salesman that said he would. I never got a phone call today. So I called the dealership again and the guy was out delivering a truck so I flat out told them " look I don't care who gives me the Dora to the truck I ordered I just need it emailed to me " and some. Other guy took my email down and said he would email it too me. So now I ask. If I don't get an email this time... should I just say screw it and go to another dealership?
