76 ford 302 with power steering in 49 ford truck with MII front end. I need to install A/C due to the ungodly heat in Texas in summer. Looking for suggestions for compressor mounting. thanks.
Did you look at a stock setup from the bone yard? While finding a '76 motor is going to be difficult, the position of the compressor is what is the key element of the installation. And the bonus in getting a newer setup, you might just score one with the smaller compressor.
I have a buddy that just installed a Vintage Air Frontrunner system on his 302 and he has his original system available. I am meeting him for breakfast and can ask him for some pics and get an idea about how much he would want for the A/C setup. He has the compressor as well as the mounting as I recall.

I do not believe that he is on this forum but I did speak with him this morning. He has the complete setup to add the A/C and convert the v-belt to serpentine. Included is a new PowerCraft (?) chrome alternator, A/C compressor, and all belts (2) and pulleys. He wants $250 for the whole setup. He is going to send me some pics later today.
Got stock parts from 89 Lincoln. This setup uses two serpentine belts withcompressor located on passenger side, was only available for a couple years on full size Lincoln/Ford/Mercury cars, think 88-90. Smog pump is removed and a shorter belt used for the AC compressor. Parts include Chrome Powermaster 100 amp Alternator PWM-837100 $180, fairly New PowerSteering Pump AA1-20-6240F $45, Used Compressor $50, New Compressor Manifold HP-1004 $35, New Compressor Block FS10 $50, Pulleys, Belt Tensioner, Serpentine Belts, Brackets, and Mounting Hardware $150. Everything is fairly clean and in working order. Pretty neat setup if looking for an original factory look. Donivan was asking and told him I'd take around $300 for everything.
Think to ship UPS to Texas would probably be around $50. Also have correct water pump $25 and timing chaincover $75, I'll throw them in for an additional $50, but water pump is kinda heavy.
