Changed plugs today and afterwards I was taking the truck for a shakedown run and noticed a noise I haven't noticed before. I noticed if I rev the engine up fast I can hear a faint whine right as the RPMs first come up. I had my wife rev the engine while I listened and it is coming from the back of the throttle body.
Is this just a normal sound from the sudden rush of air getting sucked in when you mash the throttle? I didn't notice it before, but after I do something major to a vehicle I always listen for anything out of the ordinary and pick up on things that have probably always been there but never noticed.
All connections that I messed with are tight and the engine runs smooth at all speeds. Also, the engine doesn't make the noise if I slowly up the rpms.
Mine does that. I was told it is the air passing through the throttle body. The newer 6.2s apparently have a different plate to eliminate the noise. It is worse in the winter.
