Stock studs are rotted and nearly gone on my stock cat delete pipe. It's a early 03 without a cat from the factory. The rest of the exhaust including the cat pipe itself, is still fine so I'd rather not replace everything right now. Only pipe that I can find that appears to be a bolt in and stock size fits a 94-97. Would this pipe work with a little 'adjustment' on the 03'? Anyone know if there's any pipes out there listed for the 03' in the stock size with the flange?
I'd rather avoid those custom muffler shops for now if at all possible. Even reluctantly tried the dealer and they don't carry the pipe any longer.
It's 03' pipe 5A212 in the pic . 97 delete pipe is in the second pic. Thanks.
That's the muffler delete pipe. They don't show a cat delete. Most that I come across online are not only a clamp on but too big as well (4'' and up). The only one I could find at the right size diameter was for a 97 but thanks, I'll check with them anyway.
Probably cheaper to go the muffler shop route and just get a piece welded in.
94-97 won't work. If the studs are rusted out, what kind of shape is the rest of the connection in?
I guess you could always try that muffler repair tape they sell at the auto parts stores.
Oddly enough the stud and the stud side part of the connection is the only thing that's almost gone. The up side connector and the pipes themselves are holding up fairly well. Made the mistake of swapping out factory pipes too soon in the past for the sake of ease. Typicly ends up being a regular and ongoing repair from then on which I'd rather put off as long as possible with this truck. Looks like it'd make sense at this point to have that one pipe swapped at a shop as you suggest. Thanks.
