I have a 2003 f250 6.0 from what I have read, it is showing signs that the oil cooler may be going bad. I have done EGR delete, head studs & head gaskets. At 65MPH my engine oil temperature is about 10 degrees warmer than my engine cooler temperature. However, unless I am towing my engine oil tempature doesn't get higher than 212 degrees & both cool down relatively quickly at idle. Stop & go traffic makes the tempature difference jump to 14-15 degrees. I am getting ready to move across the country. Do I need to plan on replacing my oil cooler before I move?
Looks almost exactly like my numbers yesterday, 65 on the highway when it was 95* here. Even EGT matches
Trans at 180* in traffic is fine. As far as it hitting 15* difference, you might still be in the window you can do a half-flush; you drain the engine, pull the EGR outlet cover off the oil cooler base plate, suck the coolant out and put in a cleaning agent. Let it work awhile, then suck it out, button it upm and flush to plain water. A couple of guys have tried and said it made a big difference for them without doing a full chemical flush on a partially plugged cooler. But that's for another day, I wouldn't sweat it before the move.
