where is the horn
I have a 2000 mountaineer and when I bought the truck 2 months ago the horn did not work and was told that the horn relay was fine and the horn was getting power. The dealership did not want to eat such a big repair bill charging their hourly rate and parts cost so they said they would re-emburse me all costs envolved if I did the work myself. Now for the problem! I have never owned a mountaineer let alone a late model vehicle. I have seen on my other vehicles where the horns are located, but, for the life of me I cannot find the horn on my truck to even contemplate replacing it.

On the 95, the horn is below the front of the battery. Here is the removal steps from the manual:
Horn Assembly, Ranger and Explorer
NOTE:
The horn(s) is mounted behind the radiator support on the left side of the vehicle.
1. Remove battery (10655). If necessary, refer to «Section 14-01» for removal procedure.
2. Remove left fender apron (splash shield). If necessary, refer to «Section 01-02» for removal procedure.
3. Disconnect wire(s) at horn(s).
4. In the engine compartment, remove horn bracket attaching nut. Nut is located at left front corner of battery tray.
To install horn(s), reverse removal procedure.

I have the Ford service manuals, the same one your local ford or merc shop is using. You can buy one on:
www.fixitcds.com
It took me a couple of hours to learn how to find the info I wanted but now I can find anything within a minute or two.
