Unhappy ABS vs. VSS

i'm retrofitting the wiring harnesses (and drivetrain) from a '95 F150 for use in a '52 F3 (yes, it is a complete nightmare).

i've been paring down the harnesses to just the essentials and am now removing unnecessary pins from the large harness connectors... but am wondering now if i've screwed up. i've cut out (at least some of) the circuits for ABS since this old truck most certainly won't have that feature, but it will utilize the VSS in the rear-end in order to drive the PSOM and the E4OD and keep the PCM happy.

however, trying to figure out which pins i can pull, i'm confused about how ABS plays into the VSS circuit. did i shoot myself in the foot? does the VSS in the rear-end also control ABS? does anyone know if those circuits are non-exclusive (meaning i can delete ABS but keep VSS)?

too many wires, my brain is fried!!

2nd page down in this link shows what you are dealing with.

http://www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/Wd/DownloadPdf?id=2014

You have the sensor wires, and the psom and the rabs are wired in parallel. They list the connector numbers, I think if I were doing what you are doing, I would have found out a labeled every connector so it jives with the diagrams you are using.

That stuff on the right side of the rabs going to a "shift module" must be for 4x4 only. I don't see where the tranny get's it's speed signal. Let me keep looking.

Ok, second page down in this link shows the speed signal coming into the engine computer which also controls the transmission. But the wires are different colors, pink/orange and grey/black.

Here is the answer in this diagram 1st page

http://www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/Wd/DownloadPdf?id=2037

The raw speed sensor signal is taken by the PSOM and converted to a different type of signal and then it is sent to the engine computer for a speed reference.

thanks, i'll take a closer look... that diagram doesn't look familiar (to my ALLDATADIY subscription) -- where is it from (or what vehicle details)?

guess i need to do some additional tracing... i know VSS ends up at PSOM for proper calibration before heading to PCM, but was confused by ABS. if circuit is parallel as you suggest, maybe not a problem after all?!

Those diagrams are supposed to be for a 95 f150 with a 5.8
