fuel filter not full?

hey guys, just wanted to get your thoughts. My clear fuel filter never seems to have more than a trickle in it. why is that?
and also should i have that filter before or after the fuel pump?

I presume you're checking the filters while the truck is running?

There are both pressure and volume specs for the fuel pump. They should put out 5-7 psi, and the book will say how quickly they should pump a pint.

I'd put a filter in the back, and another in between the pump and the carb

some things

I had the same problem, could be ur pump, vacuum from the tank, carb leaking into manifold. ...... my solution was a fuel filter with a built-in check valve, works like a champ, I can get the link 4 u, yes I know that may not diagnose a different source. .......but my filter is after the pump before the carb....... like most I see

also brand new sending unit, fuel pump, fuel lines and a freshly cleaned tank.
how do i test the psi and volume?

I encountered this with a 62 f350 with a 223. Filter is almost dry but runs perfectly. Interested to see what you come up with.

I spy the the flow arrow (in the 1st pic) towards the big end of the filter and it looks to be in the wrong flow direction?

Is the line with the white zip tie coming from the tank? If so, you have the filter in backwards. I run those filters also and they normally are NOT 100% full of fuel.
