f 100

I have a 66 f 100 with a 77 cid 300 in it. I just had the 1 barrel carb rebuilt.
I have new fuel lines and 2 fuel filters I bought.
I was thinking of one filter before the fuel pump and one after the fuel pump.
How does this sound? any suggestions or input is appreciated.
Scott

I would think one filter before the pump would be enough, but its your truck, add the second one if you want.

It had one filter after the pump about a foot or so before the carb. The truck had sat and I drained the tank before and added new gas, I drained it again and am going to run a gallon of clean gas/treatment through it. The original filter was small and had rust "dust"
in it. I just wondered if anyone had any reason why a 2nd filter couldnt be added.

It will make it harder for the pump to pump fuel, but I honestly can't say how much of a factor that is.

Scott, Does the fuel pump have a cartridge filter in it? It should, & you might want to replace it.

With a large filter at the pump, 1 before the carb should be enough.

I have the stock pump with the canister filter on it and I also run a small universal filter at the fuel tank. Always have plenty of fuel at the carb.I know its not needed but it makes me happy.

240/300 I-6 fuel pump has a round metal cannister that thread onto the top of it. Inside the cannister is this:

C4AZ-9365-B .. Corrogated Paper Cartridge Fuel Filter (Motorcraft FG-1A).

Some peeps are unaware, so they install an inline fuel filter. Meanwhile, the fuel pump filter is getting more clogged up every day.

Same 1964/79 I-6 & V8 all FoMoCo vehicles. Available from Ford/autoparts stores.

fuel filter

my fuel pump has fuel line in and fuel line out. I did not see any screw in filter, possibly where the fuel lines connect will screw in and out. Hell I could possibly buy a new fuel pump since I already did the carb and all.
Is the fuel pump the same for the 240 and the 300??

no the fuel lines come out of the top. (where your filter is mounted) mine is mounted the other way or upside down compared to your filter. I would have noticed a giant F***** can. Thanks I know mine does not have a fuel pump filter.

You're right Scott, my '75 300 cid does not have the older type pump with the cannister filter, so I don't think your '77 would. I have a filter between the tank and pump and never had a problem.

I bought 2 filters so I will install the one and save the other one, I drained the gas and saw very very few particles, like 4 in 3 gallons of gas.
thanks for the input
