Fuel pump and filter line question?

The 72 has the old canister style fuel filter. The local NAPA doesn't carry the paper element filter. I'm thinking about replacing the pump with a newer style mechanical pump, what are you guys using for fuel lines and filters?

As I recall when I changed over there was no problem with the fuel lines. Just installed a inline filter before the carb.

Good to know, that is what I was curious about. Thanks!

Why buy a new (prolly made in china) pump? The paper filter is still part number C4AZ9365B (FG1A). Call your local dealer. Or, how many would you want? I have 8 in stock.

Thanks, Jeff. I haven't checked at the dealership, I'll give them a call.

Napa part # 3271 for around 5.00. The pro-select version is even cheaper.
O'reillys has them and Auto zone has them. Hell, Wal-mart might have them, Fram part # cg20.

eBay has them too, they usually sell the whole shootin' match, as a kit with the outer metal filter canister, a gasket, and the filter itself for about 12 bucks delivered. I bet the canisters get munched when people can't get them off?

I bet they do get mangled because they are a pain to get off sometimes, which made me wonder last time I changed mine, if there was ever a tool for this? Because of the 3 little dimples in the bottom of the can I would think there is some sort of filter wrench for this. Anyone know?

2x STUPID Napa guy. You can buy the filter anywhere

One of those cheap parts store small engine oil filter wrenches would work. Wrapping a length of old radiator hose rubber around it first will greatly facilitate the grip.

My local NAPA only seems to employ overweight 18 year old females which don't know a damn thing about automobiles. They work cheap and just follow the prompts on the computer. It's pretty bad when the counter people at Auto Zone seem more knowledgeable. That's why I usually look up my parts first on their websites then just order it online thus minimizing the need for communicating with a moron.

Exactly what I do. Order online for in-store pickup.

I not long ago just installed a aux. stand alone filter for the holley efi setup.
Not only ford used this type of filter but even GM use them that used the AC filter in them. I think they were used on Mopar vans also.

So no shortage of them just need a P/n help with stupid counter people

I'll start ordering online with in store pick up. Then if there is a screw up, I know who to blame. Our NAPA has generally been good, not on this part, though. Thanks guys!
