Cab interior restoration

Been working on my '68 pickup since I got it, the exterior is done, I found a set of restorable original hubcaps on eBay, I do not like these 'odd' or misfit chrome wheels, big tires or any of that, I want mine as it came from Ford.
Correct tire size is P205/75R 15" and on original rims these will give great steering and also better traction in snow ... if it snows.

My ceiling cardboard was gone, I got one out of a junked truck, mice had made a few small holes in one spot, I used 3M Supper Yellow to glue a piece of white heavy paper to cover on the exposed side, glued three layers of a stiff thinner cardboard on the upper to stiffen, it came out well. I will use contact spray adhesive, glue a nice light colored flannel cloth to cover, will look nice and also soak up sound.

My interior was a light color, I have repainted all the tin with Van Sickle IH Off-White, a nice rich color, I did this by hand very carefully with a small camel's hair brush. I use my truck all the time, don't care to gut the cab in order to spary, it's just not necessary and this is not a show truck. I only use Van Sickle Industrial Enamel paint, check their website.

I rebuilt the steering wheel and painted that also. Installed the original AM radio, I only listen to talk radio anyway, don't want or need some modern radio that screws up my dash. All my heater controls work now, soaked all the cables with WD40 and 'rust buster', fuse fixed the heater motor, I took it out and oiled it. A new flasher fixed the turn signals, also one new bulb but had to replace the L front park light socket also.

No replacement for work and time, unless there's the money to have it done, I do all my own work, engines, paint, upholstery, wiring, whatever it takes.

Have fun but work at it guys, ain't gonna' get done otherwise ........

Sounds like great progress!

But you are in the 73-79 "Dentside" forum. You want the 67-72 "Bumpside" forum.

Doesn't matter much, a truck is a truck, none are new, they all need work and mine is no exception although this one required no body work whatever, no rust whatever.
I see all this 'street rod' truck business, it's fine if you like it but when I sit in a car or truck I want it real, as it was when new like Ford built it. My '36 Ford touring sedan is real, it's 6v and as they built it, If I wanted a different motor in it I'd have bought a car with that motor in it. Ford engineering is the best and none of us are going to upstage those people, you may think so but you're not.
Main thing is to preserve the past, work on things and have some fun.
Have a good one ......
