Skid Plate Attachment Hardware Source
I am fitting a set of OEM Ford Skid Plates to my 2003 F150 that I sourced from a salvage yard. They are in decent condition but the attachment hardware is not so good. It utilizes a 10mm bolt and a U Nut, as Ford calls it, but I call it a spring nut or a nut plate type of nut. Anyway, Ford has discontinued the nut parts for this application. While Ford continues to make and offer the bolts for my application, the FX4 packages today apparently utilize different attachment hardware for their skid plates. Can anyone recommend a source for these attachments, other than the big box stores or local hardware stores who do not have the correct attachment bolts and nuts. In as much as I can determine, no after market company is currently making skid plates for the 1997-2003 F150 applications. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. Rooster

Have you looked into fasenal >>>https://www.fastenal.com/
I would think that you should be able to find a reasonable substitute at you local auto parts store too.
