Two cooling questions
Two cooling questions
Hi - I have a 2015 XLT and live in England. It's been 38 centigrade (that's almost 100F) which is pretty unheard of. For the last few days a loud fan has been coming on immediately after starting the engine - I hear it under the bonnet/hood and it's quite loud. The aircon is on but then it always is, so not really different to usual apart from it's warmer outside - is this normal?
Second thing - when I start the engine - the airconn is set to the coldest postiion (I don't have climate control). It always starts to pump out warm air until I turn the dial to warm or hot - wait a second and then turn it back - again is that normal od do I have a faulty dial or something?
Thanks guys
Cheers
Mike

My fan comes on high also when starting in the warm season.
When first starting a hot car the A/C will blow warm until the system has time to start working. That might coincidentilly be about the same amount of time you spend messing with the temp ****. Have you givin it more time to see if it eventually cools off without going to hot and then back to cold.

I would say the fan coming on is normal. If it's hot outside, thermostats are probably having the fan move some air thru the AC condenser to stabilize temperatures and put the system into equilibrium.
As for the hot/cool thing, I think glock is correct. It takes time for an AC system to build pressures and start working and you need to give it a minute or two to purge the hot air from the vent system in addition to the evaporator actually creating coldness.
It all sounds normal to me except for the temps you are experiencing there

We were in a rented 2017 Expedition EL in Arizona, Utah, and Nevada last week. Temperatures were 112 degrees when were in Vegas the fans were certainly running but that's just what they are supposed to do. If we were sitting in traffic, the a/c would be "cool", but once we got moving even 25 mph it would get cold again. I was impressed how well it all worked under those conditions, you're fine!
Turn the AC off and see if the fan makes the noise on the next startup. If it doesn't it's the AC, if it does it's something else.
