This weekend, I had a really fast regen on the truck. My regens have been running 15-20 minutes or more to complete. I have had several short trips lately, my DPF screen was showing 99%, and ForScan was showing 102%, so I knew a regen was close. I figured I would have one on the next trip out and I had a 25 minute drive coming up so I figured it would be perfect. Sure enough, about 3-4 minutes into our drive, regen fires up. I was a little surprised because it usually takes longer for the truck to warm up and regen to start. I went to check the DPF screen a couple minutes later and it was down to 50% already. A couple miles further down the road and it was at 0%, ForScan showed 25%, then updated to 13%, then 12%, all with regen off. ForScan stayed at 12%, the DPF screen stayed at 0%, and the regen was complete.
All of this happened and I had been on the road for less than 10 minutes, with regen only running 6-7 minutes. Has anyone seen one this fast? Curious if there is a 'speed regen' on these things that the truck will determine you've had a lot of short trips and a regen has to be done, so let's do a quick one to clean things out. I never saw anything like this on my '08, and the regens in it always ran 15-20 minutes.
I had one exactly like that, took 5 minutes, soot level dropped like a rock and was done. Rest have been the normal 15-20 minute regens. Monitored with the Edge CTS2.
