Like alot of folks I am not driving my '99 F350 nearly as much as I was before the fuel went way up.
I am currently un-employed and we have been taking the truck out on the weekends do run errands anywhere from 20 to as much as 50 miles.
I usually start it & let it idle for about 5 minutes (also gets the A/C cool) then drive it sometimes at interstate speeds, sometimes at city stop and go type situations.
I am trying to keep my truck up the best way I can, I absolutely won't sell it if I can help it, but just can't let it sit permanatly.
Think this is enough driving/running?? Thanks!
Just make sure that when you do crank it that you bring it up to temperature and hold it there for a while to evaporate any accumulated condensation in the crankcase and any other fluid resivoirs. This is true of most any engine.
We are actually really fortunate with our 7.3's that we can let them sit abit. With a 6 liter there is possibilities of al sorts of problems if it sits abit.
bring up the temps...drive her at least a good 20 miles...the key is to bring the oil temp up to boil out any moisture in the oil and running gear....also draing the fuel bowl once a month wouldnt hurt ether....
