I have narrowed it down to two. I dont want a traditional hundred plus pound hitch so it is between the anderson ultimate 2 and the pullrite isr superlite. pros and cons to both. your 2 cents are appreciated. Anything I haven't considered?
anderson:
pros:
lighter weight
more offset (big advantage since I ordered a short bed)
ease of installation and removal.
Higher rated than load capacity than the pullrite
cons:
The way it attaches to truck, not using the puck system.
The rumored, pics anyone?, damage to aluminum truck beds.
may be slightly more difficult to hook up.
Pullrite:
pros:
Uses the ford puck system
easier to hook up
still very lightweight
cons:
less offset than the anderson
more parts to keep track of if you include the rail system for the pucks.
I didn't include price it is about a wash if you consider the cost of the rail system for the pullrite. So what do you guys think? Have I missed anything? I think in the end either one is quality and I am leaning towards the anderson just for the offset to move the nose of my 5th wheel farther from the back window.
I went with Andersen. I did a ton of research and we headed down to pick up our trailer a week from today (keystone raptor 352ts). I have the 5'r/goose prep package and the ease of setting it up and removing was extremely attractive. I believe this system will be easier to hook than a pull rite as you do not need to be dead nuts straight on like the pull rite.
Another pro was the no bucking and chucking. Our trailer came with a rota flex pin box which does not play well with the ultimate hitch but Andersen has a 35 dollar fix for that. The ability to use the bed after a quick and easy removal was the key. My best friend install his slide hitch with his tractor becaus the sob is so heavy. The last thing is the weight, can't beat it.
thanks for the input I am about to pull the trigger on the anderson on monday for all the reasons you just gave, but am wanting to see if I was missing something.
For under $1,050 shipped.. it is a really nice auto slider. Uses the pick system as I stated and nothing needs to be done under the bed. Drop it in, turn 4 bars to lock in place and away you go. When I remove it, I hook up my camper, loosen the 4 bars by turning 90 degrees and lift the camper up which then lifts the hitch out of the bed.
Another nice thing about the Demco is that you do not need a capture plate like you do with the Pullrite. The hitch is all you need to go.
hey cool idea on using the camper to lift it out of the bed, do you then just let it hang from the camper til next time you need it?
Exactly. I take a strap and hook it to the rear of the hitch and then to the rear of the king pin and ratchet till it is tight. Otherwise it sits at a 45 degree angle with the rear down and top up as you try to lift it out. It won't clear the tailgate because the rear drags in the bed as you drive away.

How/where does it damage the aluminum bed? I've got a few thousand mile using the andersen and when removed from the bed I can't even see where it's been.

I'm completely satisfied with the andersen. It's so nice at 35 lbs to unattach and carry out of the bed in about a minute.
