I agree with you completely there, my problem is that most of the wiring up near the solenoid and running off it are new which is why I'm feeling like they may be playing me.
Yes sir solenoid and starter both, as well I replaced a few connections that were loose. I'm not great at wiring but I know that if I use same gauge, and connector type I can't really be wrong. I hadn't considered putting any of that on them when I get it back I'll have to do so.
Gotcha, I put it both in between and then on connections after tightening them down.
The one place I don't use it is inside plastic multi wire connectors since it may jump voltage from one wire to another unintentionally. Those get dieelectric silicone grease or sylglide brake grease to keep water out, and make them easy to take apart later.
Okay as promised I am here to give an update on the truck. Turns out I had a bad ground in the steering column actually to be more specific it was pinched in the steering column brace who knew right? I thought something of that nature would have left the truck in a non-op before the final failure, especially since this wire has been that way already two years. Also they replaced the starter solenoid with a baby blue one that looks like it made of composite, they say it's a high torque one.
