New carpet installed 04 Excursion
My plan today was just to pull the seats & freshen up their frames, but, I got carried away & pulled the carpet out too.
Pleasantly surprised w/ the condition underneath...no surprises whatsoever.
I looked around Al Gores' WWW, actually found a listing on Ebay selling the front passenger section only, ACC in correct Opal Grey for my Ex. $144 w/ tax & free shipping. Not sure if that is the lowest, but I'm okay with it.
No plans to do the rear storage area...its still in good shape & often have a Yellow Lab riding shotgun back there, so this deal worked out.
Get yourself some spray adhesive to hold it in place while you do it.
I also sprayed the padding down in a few as I went toward the back to keep it from shifting.
I am, however, looking fwd to its arrival to make sure its good stuff (& the correct stuff) Price almost seems "too good".
Ahyep, have a local source for the backing.
All the seat frames were rough looking, caught my eye every time I opened a door. Once cleaned up and painted, will be night & day difference.
Only minor Con worth noting; the color is a little off from orig. It doesn't match the existing OEM carpet on the seats & door bottoms.
It is indeed ACC carpeting, Opal, from Carid (Ebay) $144 to my door. 1) piece, pass compartment only.
ACC box contained 2) (roughly) 4'x6' sections of 3/8" padding with it, and I used every bit. However, no additional padding was required to purchase.
Just like OGF's, it took some heating with the heat gun for some corners to conform, even after letting sit for 2) weeks in a hot, black truck.
Rather than scalpels, I picked up Kobalt "hooked" utility knife blades, and they cut like buttah.
The soldering iron (imho) is still the best bet for punching the bolt holes.
My initial plan was to just disassemble, clean, prep & paint all the seat frames. That time was well spent, as was the effort to clean the console, trim pieces, and everything else in a 16yo trucks interior.
Interior noise seems to have quieted down, likely due to every fastener now being snug.
While doing this, I couldn't help but recall some folks commenting how clean the interior was, before.
If flat rate time has concessions for motivation issues while sporting a surgical boot & messed up ankle, I nailed it.

Dayum that looks sweet
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Ordered from an ebay seller that sold ACC carpet.
Glued the backing down first, then laid out the carpet. Sounds easy, but it still took about 8 hours to complete.
I will say no wrinkles and the fit is superb, of course I had to massage it and heat it to get it to look like this.
Do you have any pictures after the seats were installed?
I’m particularly interested in how the area where the transmission tunnel meets the firewall around to the corner area underneath the accelerator and passenger side. Did it lay down tight to the floor?
I had mine done and there’s wrinkles and interference with the accelerator pedal.
My thoughts are to replace it and go black like yours.
@Oldguyfl - I'm very interested in knowing how yours turned out around the trans tunnel at the firewall. Pictures would be great please.
Anyone else go through this?
