Here's a dumb question... just changed oil in my new-to-me 2011 6.2 Gasser. How do I reset the computer so the message stops coming up? I'm sure it's in the menu system right in front of me but I ain't seeing it. Thx.
I am a retired programmer and programmers, if nothing else, can follow directions. Every time I change the oil I re-read the instructions and try to perform the reset. After I fail and before I'm angry I re-re-read the instructions. Then I fail again a few times and get angry. Then I bang on buttons (glad that I don't have a ball peen hammer handy) and suddenly it works.
My lesson for you: 1) even if you have a "Blunt Instrument License" make sure that no blunt instruments are handy. Then 2) go with the "Force".
"... 1. Press and release the SETUP button to display “OIL LIFE XXX%
HOLD RESET = NEW”.
2. Press and hold the RESET button for two seconds and release to reset
the oil life to 100%.
Note: To change oil life 100% value (if equipped with this feature) to
another value, proceed to Step 3.
3. Once “OIL LIFE SET TO XXX%” is displayed, release and press the
RESET button to change the oil life start value. Each release and press
will reduce the value by 10%. ..."

Reason: misplaced comma
Thanks for the advice and for the laugh!!! My system must be a little different than yours but following your instructions generally got me there. Didn't need any blunt instruments anyway.
By by the way (can I hijack my own thread?) is the extra price for High Mileage oil worth it? I have 175,000 miles on my gasser, and other than obscene fuel consumption, it runs perfectly.

Cool. I new about the reset, but I didn't know about the start value option. Since this is really just a 6 month timer on the 6.2, I guess every 10% lower you start, would shave off a few weeks. In my case, It would be handy if I could set it to 150%, because of low mileage. But I get the oil changed every 6 months when the light comes on anyway.

I use the 10w30 synthetic, mine has 152,000 miles, and pull 9,000 pounds regularly

I try to change the oil in spring and fall. I dislike doing it in the summer and I hate doing it in winter. The last few times I've let it drain overnight. When you first check your oil it is more translucent than if you drained for e.g. 15 minutes. Objectively I'd guess that it doesn't matter one whit but it makes me happy.
There is one more thing I do changing the oil on the 6.2L. Every time I thank the engineer for keeping the axis of the oil filter vertical so it can be pre-filled. I've had too many cars with a horizontal axis for the filter.
