oil life reset

Just changed the oil (new to me used 2011) and went to reset oil life and it won't change from 26%, reset on another menu to 100% but the oil life won't go to 100% what gives?? Another question... going to change coolant tomorrow, didn't really look around while I was under the truck. I assume theres a drain valve on the radiator to drain it and afterwards fill with about 6 gallons through the expansion tank? I'm in the process of changing all of the fluids so I know where I'm at being that its a used truck with high milage

How many miles do you have on the truck?

Maybe you don't have an owners manual with all the explanations of the truck, you can also goggle to find a owners manual and download it. Here you go. http://justgivemethedamnmanual.com/f...owners-manuals

change back to English.

When this message appears, press the RESET button and the message center will begin to cycle
through the following systems and provide a status of the item if needed.

This displays the remaining oil life.
An oil change is required whenever indicated by the message center and according to the recommended

To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change, perform the following:
1. Press and release the SETUP button to display “OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW”.
2. Press and hold the RESET button for two seconds and release to reset the oil life to 100%.
Note: To change oil life 100% value (if equipped with this feature) to another value, proceed to

Did my first oil change last weekend. (Mobil1) Afterwards, I went into the dashboard menu to reset the oil life, and it had automatically reset itself to 100%. I was a bit perplexed as I didn't think the truck was smart enough to know that the oil & filter had been changed.

Also installed a Fumoto valve to make future oil changes easier

Yep. Thanks. I actually did it last night after getting close to the 1500 number. Changed with with Motorcraft this time, since I will be changing it at 5k, and at that point going forward I plan on running Red Line Full Synthetic. I've run it in the Mustang since I got it with 16k miles and at 70k it has perfect compression across the board.

did my first oil change last week, and the oil life did not reset itself? I'm changing on the 5's anyway so I'm not real worried about it, but the oil life indicator seems pretty useless as it will let you go ~8k miles unless you tell it otherwise...maybe 8k is fine? I do think 3k is a waste of money/oil....... but if you don't mind that...it certainly won't hurt.

I was at 45% at 4000 miles. Changed the oil. Started it up. 100%.

No idea.
