I am trying to perform the pin swap needed to implement the autofolding mirror option via forscan. After lots of research, it is still unclear on how to remove the pins out of the connector. Do you insert the screwdriver on the wire side or the connector side? Do you insert the screwdriver on the "towards the center" side of the pin or the "towards the outside"? Thanks in advance. BTW, loving the new forscan release!
I have removed many pins from cannon plugs on aircraft and there is a tool that encircles the pin to release the hooks that secure the pin in the plug. not sure if the newer automotive plugs have the same type of pin.

I use two small screwdrivers, one inserted on the top of the wire side to release the wire release tab. And the other screwdriver to push from the pin side. Just trying to pull the wire out after inserting from the wire side caused one of the wires to split/stretch. I used the instructions in the above referenced F150 thread as well, look at the top of post #2 for instructions on how the connector body is oriented and how to use a screwdriver to release the wire connector.
Did my wire swaps today, I have a small screwdriver set, but not that small....took me about 5 minutes to do the drivers side with a small paper clip (in the top hole) and a regular sized paper clip (to push from the outside/bottom.) It took me about 15 minutes to do the passenger side so I went and got another paper clip (two paper clips in the top) and that eventually worked. Do your best to get the wire pushed in, then push the wire towards that center of the housing so that you can get your screwdriver or paper clip on the "out" side of the wire. As stated then I used another paper clip to push up through the bottom. Hope that works
My mirrors were folded in when I did this procedure so I started freaking out that it might be "reversed," we'll see but I think its alright as the mirrors still fold in/out with the inside button.
My laptop is all loaded and ready to go with Forscan and license, just waiting on my USB OBD which should be here Monday. I've got a list of stuff I want to do g
One more thing, I'm thinking about doing Lincoln style, anybody else do it that way? I know why you do it that way, but how do you like it? Unexpected advantages? Disadvantages?
I did Lincoln style. I like it. I really don't want the mirrors unfolding until I start the vehicle (like a VW or Audi) but Lincoln style is the closest I can get.
I used a small (like the size of a paper clip) allen key that I happen to have. It is small and thin, but a tough metal. Any how, you need to put it into the "outside" of the pin. Take the connector and look up through it, your hole 21 should be empty, and you will see that the "clip" (little piece of plastic inside there) is to the outside center of each pin hole.
Let me draw a crude pic to explain it, the red piece is not red in real life, just me trying to point out the little clips inside the connector. The clips are just little plastic "flaps" that are bent out and hold the pin in, you need to push in on the pin, push the plastic flap, then pull out on the pin/wire.
