I'm having a problem getting either Waze or Google Maps to show up under Android auto in my truck's display. My 2017 is running sync version 3 as it shipped from the factory. I can get Pandora and AccuWeather to show up on my mobile apps under Sync, but I cannot get the navigation map to change from the one that comes with Sync. Any tips or pointers for what I might be doing wrong would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.
I am using Bluetooth to connect my Note8 phone to the truck, and have the latest AA, Google maps, and Waze beta installed.
Okay, I'm new to the whole smarter than me automobile. I have never had a car or truck for that matter that had a touch screen or anything other than a speedometer, tachometer, a couple of gauges and some idiot light.
I would like to know more about the APPS that can be added to the trucks touch panel display. where would I go to learn more about the capability of the system?
The Sync3 system supports directly connect phones (Apple = Car Play, Android = Android Auto). This gives you a different set of apps and navigation options in your touch screen. Depending on what type of mobile phone you have, google either Android Auto or Car Play. Alternately you can just directly connect your phone to the USB ports under your AC / seat controls and the option should appear to connect to your phone.
Egads - that was it. Thanks Tricon! I was hoping that it would work just over BT. Since the weather app and Pandora showed up over just the BT link, I figured that I did something wrong and that was why maps/Waze wasn't showing up. Plugging it in under the radio stack in one of those USB slots did the trick. No fast-charging supported, but at least maps works now.

No worries, its not that clear what works and what doesnt via BT, easy to miss.
Suprised you dont get Quick Charging, my Google Pixel always says Charging Rapidly when its plugged into my dash.
