Offy / Headers q?

I've searched and think I know the answer but wanted to verify.
Previous owner installed headers on my 4.9l, do I need to remove those to install the Offy DP manifold?

Any suggestions on what is best to use for the thick washers?

Thanks

Hi Ippo,

Are you saying that they installed headers with the stock 1bbl carb intake?

Either way, yes, the intake and exhaust share the same bolts to hold them on, so to remove one, you always have to remove the other. On this engine, that's a given no matter what intake/exhaust combo you have.

For thick washers, the stock ones work well if you have enough meat on the mounting tabs (I've always found them to be a little too small in diameter).

Otherwise, these are the ones I use, and I like them:

I got a mix of 1/2" and 9/16".

Too thin of a washer, and it'll curl under the torque.

Yes, exactly.

Perfect, thanks for the reply.

next search: ripping out the emissions extras. or more accurately, what little is left of them.
