5th wheel hitch question

Hello, new member here. Always read post from here but just recently joined. My question is I just got a new 2017 f350 and I need to get a new hitch, are any of you having problems with bed height clearance? I've got the factory prep installed and I'm leaning toward the b & g companion. What are you guys using with this set up and how do you like it? My old hitch was a slider and I'm looking forward to not having all that weight to lift out of the bed.

Since my truck came without the factory puck system I went with a Curt Q20 hitch and used the old school mounting rails. Set at the highest level I have lots of clearance even backing up inclines.

If you already have the puck system in your new truck, get the goose box system - if you want to install the standard old rails, get the rail mount system: see here - https://andersenhitches.com/catalog/...onnection.aspx

This REALLY saves your back installing and removing.

If you have the factory pucks, the B&W is a nice combo to go with that truck. As far as bed height, you really just have to check your truck to your choice. The truck will level out somewhat. If it's an F250, you should be fine. If it's an F350, you may need to 'play' with the rear spring blocks, changing to the F250 2" version, along with hitch adjustments, of which the B&W has several possiblities. Lots of these new trucks pulling 5ers with no problems.

Do it - you'll enjoy!!

Leveled out pretty good..I thought it would be nose high but not. At 62 to 65 mph I'm getting 10.4 mpg so it's not dragging too bad!

If The OP is getting a SWR, then the F350 rear will settle down with a 2000 lb pin weight.

Guy I got my 5er from gave me husky hitch and rails. I had in bed turnover ball factory installed in the f-350 so I purchased Curt X5 5th-Wheel Base Rail Adapter Plate. Very sweet setup as you can remove all when not in use and not have permanent rails mounted! Believe it or not I got the best price for the adapter on walmart.com

Andersen Ultimate Hitch for either bed rail or puck setup. Easy to install and remove and light enough for my old back to move about without any issues.

While everyone has their favorites, the Andersen Ultimate mounted to a goose ball replaced my Reese 16K and I've never looked back. Take the AUH off the goose ball, pop the goose ball out and I have my bed back.

Another vote for Andersen Ultimate Hitch. I tow a 14000 lb 5th wheel. I get a little over 2" sag when hitched. I can get about 70 degrees of turn backing up.

I'm 70 years old with a bad back. The 37 lb Andersen is a piece of cake to remove or install.

To all you guys posting pictures of your new trucks and trailers, KNOCK IT OFF !!
My truck is an '11, and my trailer is a '10. You're all making me develop an inferiority complex.
Of course when I get MY next new set of toys.....

Keep posting newbies...don't bother me... my free and clear 05 250 and 07 Arctic Fox get along just fine. Will last me to the end of my towing days!
