If you had to splice wires to put the new pump in then it's easy enough to wire it backwords which would make it suck fuel into the tank instead of pushing it out.

I've seen some DIY'ers accidentally reverse the polarity on the pump motor. Sometimes the Spectra brand fuel pumps color codes get a little confusing. I'd double check the hookup. Even the best of us get wires crossed sometimes.

That's probably what I did. I rushed to get it back together and should have tested it before I put the tank back up. You can bet I won't do that again.

Just to follow up, I did get the wires backwards on the pump. I switched the wires outside of the tank and all is good now. Thanks everyone. On to tank 2!
