Yes, that is normal for a stock 4R100. But we are talking about the 5R110W in this thread, and that's a totally different animal.

So I watched mine yesterday and It was around 165 once the engine was fully warm but when towing before I've seen it closer to water temp driving 75mph+.

There's some damn fool who recorded his trans temp over a 200mi trip empty and it never broke 160°F from what I remember.

I have seen 190

I have been towing heavy this year and on long steep roads the temp has gotten as high as 190f.

I also saw 190f while going west bound on Hwy 120 from Groveland Ca. that was all down hill. 120 is very steep and with many 25 mph corners. Tranny was working hard at holding me back.

I seem to recall that guy... And I think that was what convinced him to put the '08+ trans pan/filter on (that he had had on the shelf for some time), since it filters 100% of the oil no matter what the temp is...
