Question about broken differential lock pin

If the differential lock pin Bolt breaks or snaps would it end up in the bottom of my differential pan where the oil is? please I need this answered thank you

Unless there's a magnet in there it to grab it, I don't see anywhere else it could end up. Why is it missing?
