Automatic High beams

I am looking at a truck that does not have the ultimate trailer package on it but does have the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System. So based off of this info the truck does not have automatic high beams. Is this something that can be added using IDS? I would figure everything else is there.

Anyone have any info on this?

Also has anyone tried to add adaptive steering since it is just a unit in the steering wheel?

what trim of truck do you have? do you have the front camera under the rear view mirror facing forward?

The auto high beam system works from the camera mounted behind the rearview mirror. That camera also functions for lane departure warning, but it is what operates the auto high beams.

The high beams turn themselves on if the following conditions are met:
-Speed above ~30mph
-Ambient light is low enough for high beams (needs to be darker than just what is needed to switch on the headlights automatically. That function is determined by the light sensor on the dash top)
-The windshield camera does not see oncoming headlights, or red taillights, or streetlights
-The function is switched on in the message center

The truck I am looking at is a Lariat Ultimate.
Yes it has the front camera.

These pictures show the difference between the two packages. Just the Camera does not list Auto high beams.

The Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera package will give you five cameras (rear, CHMSL, front, left, right). The Tow Technology package adds a sixth camera looking out the windshield, under the rearview mirror. It is used for lane departure, rain sensing, and auto high beams.

Thank you for the clarification. I was not aware Ford differentiated the packages but that makes sense. I would be curious if that camera could be added and re-programmed.

probably can be added but would cost quite a bit and no one at a dealer willing to learn on how to do it.

Negative. Rain sensing is accomplished by a small infrared sensor above the windshield cam. Attached is a pic I took of my truck's windshield, hard to see, but you get the idea.

Lastly, just to confirm: all Lariat Ultimate trucks come with rain-sense wipers and auto high beams, even if they have absolutely no other camera packages.

Automatic high beam

Does anyone know if one can add just the automatic high beam feature without adding the complete tow bundle.

On an order? Or on a truck that didn't come with it? As stated above, it's part of certain option packages, like Lariat Ultimate. I dont think it's a stand alone option.

I have it, but dont really use it much. The other night I realized it was on and it had the brights on, even though there were cars up ahead. Maybe they were too far for it to recognize their taillights, but I'm sure my brights were annoying even at that distance.

Just to add my $.02... I had Auto Highbeams in my 2016 F150 and current 2019 F250. Useless IMHO... actually annoying how they switch on and off and I've noticed the lights coming on just as the oncoming car is passing flashing the driver. I can be a jerk, but only when I want to be, not the truck deciding for me

So if you have auto high beams but only can access the rear camera on the display is there a way to get access to the front camera for the high beams on the display?
