Things needed to convert np435 big block trans the small block 5.0

So Im new here and am wondering what I would need to connect a 66 np435 2wd trans off a big block to a small block 5.0 injected engine with a automatic transmission bellhousing and flex plate and I don't have the np435 bellhousing that was with it. Any ideas of what to get appreciated.

There's really no such thing as a "big block NP435". The only difference between transmissions for dfferent engine families is the bellhousing. That's important on transmissions with integral bells (like all autos or the newer 5 speeds). But the NP435 doesn't have an integral bellhousing. So all you need to mount the trans to the engine is a small block bellhousing.

Obviously you'll need the correct flywheel for the engine, clutch and clutch pedal and linkage. If you go with a hydraulic clutch you'll need a bellhousing for a hydraulic slave, or if mechanical then a mechanical linkage bell.

If the auto trans was electronically controlled you'll need to figure out the engine computer (typically the same computer controls the engine and trans, and if the trans is missing it can get confused). Not an issue if it's a non-electronic trans, like a C4, C6 or AOD.

And there are always a million little things that turn up in swaps.

So if I want a hydrolic clutch, what do I search to find the bellhop sing cause I looked all over and there's only t-5 bellhoousing and I believe a t-5 bellhousing won't work

From what I understand pretty much all transmissions used by Ford have the same bolt pattern. But I'm not sure if the depth is the same on all of them.

But Ford used NP435 and T18 trannies with hydraulic clutches in the mid 80s, so a bellhousing from one of those trucks should work for you.

So the t-5 bolt pattern is the same as the t18, how do I know what depth to find and where do I find one with the depth measured in the details of one online

Sorry, I don't know much more about it. You might try asking on the '80 - '86 truck forum. That's where the bell you need comes from and there are some very knowledgeable guys there.

In fact, one has set up a website as sort of a one-stop-shop for info related to '80 - '86 Ford trucks, Gary's Garagemahal. You might try searching there first.

Good luck!
