I bought what i think is a 292 Y block and a sm420 granny 4 speed trans. My question is if that is some sort of adapter that mates the 292 to the 4 speed, and if it is an adapter can any other trans be used with that adapter? Thanks

The answer would seem to be "Yes".
And those transmissions would be, to quote from the following link:
"The front bolt pattern is the consistent GM Muncie / Saginaw four-bolt pattern as found on GM bellhousings and transmissions from the 1940's through the 1990's..........."
If it's a Clark, why does it have "WG" cast into it, and T1?
This is said to be a Clark 280v. Blow up the pic and see if you can read the numbers on the side. Or, better yet, find a good Clark image so the OP can compare his trans to a Clark.
