Flareside cross brace wood block dimensions

Does anyone have the dimensions of the wood blocks used on the bed floor cross braces for a 8 foot flareside bed?

No one make them for your year truck?
Why I ask is what I found on my 81 SB flare side the blocks are different sizes based on how the frame turns up or down where the cross braces are.

Canus,

The blocks for your truck are going to vary in dimensions, depending on their locations.
I know the wood blocks for the front and rear sills are cut in kind of a, well lets say a unique way, the ones for the middle cross sills will also vary, due to where they sit across the frame, I know you could order or at least see what I'm talking about if you navigate the N.P.D catalog.

https://www.npdlink.com/store/catalo...r-50907-1.html

When I needed to replace a couple for my flareside, I cut mine to fit and used the dimensions from the ones I had already.
I have a few pictures of my measurements, I'm not sure if they would do you any good though, but let me know I can post what I have for you.

I am aware that I can buy them just don't see paying the ridiculous prices for a few small pieces of wood. have the woodworking tools to make them just don't have the dimensions I need. Most of the ones that came off my truck were too far gone to use for patterns. Any pictures, measurements, etc. would be appreciated.

Good Morning Canus,

I have some numbers for you,
( these will be from my truck )

Front sill,
3 3/8 L x 2 5/8 W x 3 3/8H

sill# 2
4 1/2 L x 2 3/8 H x 1 7/8 W

sill # 3
4 1/2 L x 1 3/4 H x 1 7/8 W

sill # 4 (over fuel tank)
3 1/2 L x 2 1/2 H x 1 7/8 W

rear sill
5 L x 2 W x 2 1/8 H x 2 W

If these numbers don't work for you, may i humbly suggest, seeing how the front and rear sills have the boxes on them, that you set those on your frame and run a string line from front to rear across the top to get the height.Just remember to subtract for the thickness of the sill. Then measure the inside dimension of each sill for the width. as far as the necessary length, cut the front and rear blocks to the size of the box, for the others be sure to allow for room for the nut and washer.

I hope this helps you.
And yes I do agree with you that why buy when you can build

Thank you! For the rear you listed 2 widths- just to verify- its 5L x 2W x 2 1/8H? What kind of wood do you suggest to use? pressure treated?

One,
my bad on the error in typing the two widths.
I know Ford used red oak for the wood for the flareside beds.
If you opt not to use oak but use a hard wood like hickory or walnut, I wouldn't recommend pine or poplar.or ash.
