2001 Escape issue

I bought a 2001 Escape 3.0 for $500. Ive put new fuel pump, fuel filter, starter, spark plugs, air filter, transmission fluid, ignition coils, valve cover gaskets and changed the oil and ran cleaner in the gas and it still acts like its missin. I floor it and it eventually goes but jumps & skips. Ive gutted the catalytic converters as well and i dont what else to do to it. Does anyone have any ideas?

How many miles on the clock? Have you hooked it up to a scanner?

You may want to invest in a scanner that can provide live data. They can be found fro around $100. That will give you more of an idea as to what is causing the misfire.

Pull upper intake off, and put duct tape over the ports. disconnect coils. have someone crank engine and watch the duct tape. The tape should suck down and stay sucked. If it pops back up on a cylinder there is a valve issue. A known issue is a dropped valve seat on the driver front cylinder, the one with the pulley. Cheapest fix is usually a used engine

I havent had time to do Matts suggestion but after i put new ignition coils on it the motor runs alot better but it still has a miss to it and i was told yesterday that the ECU needs replaced and that would fix the miss that it has. Im going to do what Matt mentioned before i buy a ECU but just wanted to post what i was told and see if it actually could be the issue. Let me know guys thanks
