new motor mounts installation
took the Negative terminal off..
-then I removed the clutch fan with a big crescent wrench and the hit it with the swing hard and fast method... was surprised that it worked.
-to remove the shroud the top radiator hose needs to be disconnected.
removed the belt (1/2 breaker bar)
Lift the engine at the skirts of the block where the pan bolts to it.
I have shorty headers and a custom exhaust. I just unbolt the header collectors from from everything else before I lifted.
I removed the clutch fan and A/c Compressor(installing all new components) the A/c Compressor does not need to be removed from its location but the starter does.
***However I'd highly recommend disconnecting the crank position sensor for the A/c compressor removal.*** broke the wires pulling it out even though I thought it was perfectly clear. the 3 bolts holding it on have access holes in the cross member 2 x10mm and 1 x 13mm.
- The Elbow throttle body needs to be removed in order to get the needed height.
You can leave mostly everything hooked up, except the throttle cable cruise control etc... then set it off to the side.
- I aligned the left and right by measuring and then lifting the side that had a smaller gap for the slots. The bottom bolt on each side I aligned to the bottom edge of the slot so they where even at about 9/16". I did this using a 2 x 4 however I did not lift the engine like this expect for alignment.
-as for removing the mounts I was able to get the passenger side out the back.
for the drivers side just wiggle it out from the top...
I took all the (2 x 21mm on each side and transmission)nuts off from the transmission to the engine mounts to ensure free movement. I broke the 4 x 13mm loose before jacking and then ran them out with an -impact gun wrench what ever I could get in there.
I was able to move the elbow far enough out of the way to lift the engine to get them out.
this is the Lift I fabricated to hit the sides of the block its scrap wood. 2x4's would have worked too.
I think if I would have made it again I would have put something in there to catch on the transmission at the same time.
I need to clean up the wiring for the Auto meter tach... I took this to show that you lift it straight up between the exhaust on this side.
