Havent been on here in a while, been busy as all heck. But finally at a point where I am making some progress on the 48 Panel, painted it a week ago and now getting it ready for Hot Rod Power Tour in 2 weeks. Figured I would show what she looks like now, I converted the rear side swing doors into a single hatch and really smoothed out the back end a lot, also frenched in the license plate.
The color is Satin Midnight Blue from TCP Global's line of Hot Rod Flatz Colors. Its not perfect but not too shabby for my first shot at body and paint!
Looks good from what I can see. Also looks like you also frenched in the teardrop taillights. Any pics with the rear open? and hood open? Show us the 302!
That's a great looking panel and I love the color. I really wanted to do the power tour this year in my F-1 but it just starts way too far away from me and if I do it I want to do the long haul.

We plan to do the long haul, we live just outside Wichita, KS and it starts a couple hours away in KC this year, fun part is going to be the drive back from Bowling Green to Wichita after it is over in 2 days! Good part is I set this thing up as a driver, Mustang II, parallel 4-link, coil overs, mostly stock 302 with an AOD, explorer rear axle with 3.55 gears... it cruises right on down the road at 70 MPH.
That is nice paint. I'm using the same paint but in Hot Rod Red. I had to clean off dried bird poop from my roof yesterday and was pleased at how easily it cleaned off with just plain water.

Wizards brand cleaners has a matte finish protector, like a wax for matte finishes, it is a spray on wipe off. I bought a bottle of it and happy so far, didnt shine it up at all. It is supposed to help with fading and UV rays, bugs...bird poop, etc... Dig the Red BTW, looks good, and nice truck too!
You got it! My son that is going with is an aspiring videographer so he will be taking photos and videos along the way. We will be putting them on our Car Clubs YouTube Channel (Bentley Car Club) and I will be sure and post some pics on here along the way too.
Thank you! Its all been trial and error, I never had anyone to teach me how to do this stuff so I have had to just jump in and figure things out the hard way!

Will take some more pics once I get it detailed up, just got done covering the ENTIRE inside in sound deadening mat, that was a chore! Taking it to a buddies and putting on lift tomorrow to undercoat it. Still got to make a panel to cover the inside of the rear door, I cut out most of the metal on the inside to save weight so the gas struts can lift the door, going to cover it with some lightweight aluminum or mylar paneling.
That's the color of my '54! Actually, just getting ready to repaint the hood. Hoping it will come out the same as the rest of the truck.
I use Meguiar's Wash & Wax - waterless car wash. I bought some Wizards but haven't tried it yet. I see that there is also Matte car wash available.

Yes, there are a few cleaners on the market. I bought some Rat Wax and one other that I have not used yet as I still have some body repair work to do to the right drip rail. I wasn't sure how those cleaners would prevent paint adhesion without special cleaning. Plain water worked just fine.
