Gdub's 1951 panel build

Thought I'd put together a build thread, I've finally got enough done to justify it.

I bought my panel off of e-bay in march of 2010. Here's how it had sat for over 25 years up in Nebraska.

A couple of tear-down pics:

Volare install:
Cut lines

Trial fit

Welded in with steering hooked up

Floorboard Repair:
Rusted out

Completed but not painted

Rear Door Repair:
Damage, Lower hinge on passenger side was torn completely out

Fabricated hinge pocket test fit

All welded in

Stripping paint:

Rear Quarter repair:
Damage

Cut out

All the pieces trial fitted

Glued, screwed and welded too

Bondo

I'll keep updating when there's more progress.

Nice work! Watching with anticipation as I've got a '51 panel that I'm working on.

Did you check the underside of the body in the rear? Mine seems to have dropped about 3/4", either that, or the under door panel is completely hacked and wrong!

I know it's hacked! If you get a chance, throw up a pict of inside the back doors at the back panel bottom! Would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the positive replies. Hope to get the underside power-washed and painted on Saturday. Should have it in primer in a few weeks.

Just noticed something, you have a hood from a 52. What does the hood latch panel (between the upper fenders) looks like? Also, what is the fourth character in your VIN?

I'll have to check the vin when I get home this evening but I'm pretty sure the hood latch panel had the v-8 emblem on it.
