I'm not here to challenge you, it's only my opinion
I have seen the black carbon on the spark plug nut and porcelain and it indicates blowby . The gases are coming out the plug threads . A common complaint is the smell of fuel in the cab . It seems to burn the tips of the plugs , I run champions at this time but next time I will go to sp515's . That's 3 sets of champions with no trouble but now I believe mc has fixed the problem .
The only thing I can deduce is the extremely hot gases running by the tip instead of thru valves is having a torch action on those tips . The carbon built up around that point must be like charcoal ,even glowing on the intake stroke as it surely is pulling oxygen in around those threads . Just my guess .
I stand corrected. What you state sounds very much plausible and good reasoning as to what happened with that plug in particular. Thank you for the explanation.
... it might also explain the burnt fuel smell I get in the cabin when using the heat or a/c...?
