Glad I bought a repair panel years ago. I knew when I bought truck years ago the corner had some bondo but not this much! A PO had attempted to pull some of the dent out. It appears they applied the bondo right over the original paint. In some areas it was over 1 inch thick! It wasn't cracking but it had a bulge from not working out the high spot out or sanding enough. They even put the bindi directly over the rubber plug in the back of the cab!
I have found those wire wheel brillo pads and an air drill can remove bondo and even paint down to the bare metal. Your cab corner might have the world record for bondo thickness.
These old trucks are not Rolls Royce's, whoever did that repair work was probably doing the best he could to fix that cab corner. Looking at the lower section, the part that has yet to be stripped, it looks as if the panel has the correct shape and the filler is still intact. Covering the cab mount access plug is definitely a no-no but it could have been worse...he could have welded it up not realizing why it was there. Keep us posted on your replacement panel installation, these panels really cover a broad area so I am sure you will be pleased with how much of the PO's indiscretion that you can correct.
