Anyone know how to access the compartment where the wiper blade arms attach to the motor? The passenger side drive arm has fallen off the motor spindle. Easy fix if I can get to it.
It does not appear to be from engine compartment. I am hoping I don't have to remove dash...
I have a stripped out my 89 B2 dash to get access to under the cowl for some rust fixing on that seam on the firewall, I do rember seeing a access panel from the inside cab to wiper area, too dark now to check. In the am if I don't forget I'll check again. I do know that cowl is spot welded in place and is also under the winshield too. Not like the big Ford's cowl which is removeable for wiper link access. Hopefully my glass man shows up this weekend to pull that windshield for me to get that cowl off and repair rusty seam.
Jaydubau, if you have an 89 B2 there should be two access points under the hood on the fire wall for the wiper links. One is close to the driver side front fender between the brake vacuum booster and the fender. It's a metal cover about 4" by 6", usually black in color and held on by three or four small (maybe 1/4 inch) hex head screws. The other metal cover is located in the center of the fire wall just behind the wire harness that goes across the seam flange above the wiper motor. This cover is also black but is a bit smaller than the other one, and has maybe three small hex head screws in it. If the passenger wiper won't work you need to take off the center cover to get at the link and pin it attaches to on the wiper motor. It can be a bit awkward to work through this hole but with some patience you can get it. If you close the hood down you can look in to where the links are through the vent holes(use a flash light) in the cowl to see how it's arranged in there. The links are held to the drive pin on the motor by a special clip that you slide on to lock it in place. Some times the clip breaks or slides out of place and lets the link fall off. When you put things back together in there put a small dab of grease on the pin and bushing on the links to help them work easier. Let us know how it goes.
