Scary experience today. Was towing my enclosed trailer (5000lbs) and then on the dash a message that said wiring short and then smoke started coming out of the tbc and lost all lights. Lucky i got over and pulled the trailer lights out and that stoped the smoke. Turns out my trailers brakes are friend and that cause a massive short which fried all my wires. I am saying my thanks to god that my trailer and truck didn't burn down, thank you ford for your useful info center.

Sorry I can't find the thread, but one of the Ford trailer brake controllers was prone to overheating remember reading while researching adding one to my truck. Might want to do a search on this and other forums - distinguishable by part numbers.
