I have a 2001 F350 that I recently purchased the speedometer was not working when purchased and I cant see to figure out why. I have replaced the speed sensor in the rearend. I replaced clockspring. All other gauges are in good working order. Cruise control works. Any ideas?
Check the grounds near the parking brake for rust/bad connection. If you have ABS, check your wiring to the ABS unit, including local grounds on the driver's fender(under the hood). Are all your fuses in good shape?
did you visually inspect the VSS wiring as it leaves the sensor area and goes up into the body for mice snacking or road debris damage? When you plugged in the VSS did you look carefully at the wire harness connector at the VSS for corrosion (blue green coloring)? You need a scanner that can monitor the VSS for signals.
